We have made our journey to the lake in our 26' wind mobile (RV) last night. There were some crazy drivers out there. One tried to run me off the road and one came to a full stop going downhill on a mountain road. FYI: it takes a while for an RV to stop, so don't play games.
We are now parked on the road which runs in front of the lake. Jane has again just finished making our breakfast of eggs, hashbrowns, toast, fresh squeezed orange juice from our Valencia orange tree and I've just finished my second cup of coffee. We also brought along some of our 1 1/2 pound heirloom tomatoes to share.
If you've been following my blog, you know what I rigged, however, today I purchased a 6.5 Ezzy Cheetah and a skinny 430 mast from a fellow sailor. They are both in like new condition.
The wind started off light this morning but, by the time I rigged, it had climbed to 20 mph. It's also quite warm so I'm able to wear shorts and a rash guard, my favorite way to sail. I'm windsurfing on a 5.8 meter Ezzy wave sail and a 105 Goya One board. It blows pretty hard throughout the afternoon. I'm coming to the lake on August 14th for 5 days. I hope to concentrate on spending more time foiling. I want to be feeling comfortable on a foil before the water gets cold in the ocean.
Time for our Saturday night barbecue by the lake. Four grills, lots of shared food and great company. Our German friend and Hollywood mogul JZ is on hand this evening but he has his girlfriend with him tonight and pineapple beer. A German drinking pineapple beer! Sausages, chicken, steak, pork chops, fish, various salads and our brie on crackers with a dollop of tomato jam! We always have a great potluck. |
