Jane joined me last night. We are now parked on the road which runs in front of the lake. Jane has again just finished making our breakfast of eggs, hashbrowns, toast, fresh squeezed orange juice from our Valencia orange tree and I've just finished my second cup of coffee. We're still giving away some of our heirloom tomatoes as we are getting a stellar harvest this year. We need to make some more tomato sauce next week when we get home.
It's really up and down wind conditions today. I'm switching between foiling and finning but having a blast. Jane's enjoying finning on a 5.8 Ezzy panther and her HiFly Mad board. It has two fins which she loves. HiFly made some of the best boards over the years.
One of the wingers here demos Armstrong products and another is a team rider. I've been picking their brains about gear for when I outgrow my Slingshot Dialer.
I had an interesting reach in the afternoon. I was planing about 25 mph when a winger turned right in front of me with no warning. I had to do a pretty hairy ditch to keep from mowing him over. When I surfaced he said, nice wheely. I should have looked before I turned. I said, you ALWAYS need to look before you turn. Please keep that in mind when you're foiling.
Time for our Saturday night barbecue by the lake. A lot of our sals are out of town but some friends we haven't seen in years were at the lake today so it's still a respectable crowd. As usual the pot luck variety is delicious with some entries we don't usually see. We capped it off with home baked birthday cupcakes, some libations and camaraderie. |
